Nursing and Nurses Helpers

One of the jobs most people think of when they consider getting into a health care type job is that of a nurse. Nurses can make excellent money since there is always a demand for more nurses with the increasing population of retirees with a wealth of money to spend on high quality care, and with the increasing population of the world. However, one downside to nursing is the fact that many people get burned out quickly and go into another career within a few months or even a few years of becoming a nurse or a nurses aid.

The stress level of a nurse is probably the largest of any of the health care fields, which is due much to the constant demand of patients for even the basic necessities as well as serious issues like assisting doctors with pre-medical procedures. If you do not deal with high stress situations, then nursing is probably not something you will want to take classes in college for. While schooling only requires several years of training, the hours can be very long and shifts are usually broken up. Most nurses can have as many hours as they want to work, but an average person will get very tired of this.

Another issue as a nurse that must be taken into consideration, is the quality of the care given. For most people, taking care of a sick family member can be a challenge. Now imagine taking care of  10-20 patients all at once, many of whom are irritable and difficult to deal with at times. This can leave a nurse very drained and unsure at times if the job he or she has taken on is the right one. This is where it might be a good idea to practice as a CNA before going fulltime into the nursing field. Becoming a CNA requires only about 3-6 months of schooling in most cases, and will help you to have a better understanding of what it means to be a nurse. The pay as a CNA is not high, so don’t expect a nurses wages, but you will get the experience to better make an informed decision on whether to take college classes and full time schooling to enter the nursing field.
